Ask for a deposit

Ask for a percentage or a fixed amount up front when a customer approves a quote, and collect it online or record it yourself.

A deposit gets money in before you buy blanks or burn screens. Set it on the quote; the customer sees it as due when they approve. Nothing is charged until they pay it.

Add a deposit to a quote

  1. In the quote builder, go to Deposit.
  2. Choose Percentage (of the total including tax) or Fixed amount, and enter the amount. None means no deposit.
  3. Save the quote.

The Summary shows Deposit due for each option.

How the customer pays it online

If you take online payments, the quote page shows Pay deposit once the customer approves. They pay by card or bank on Stripe's secure page, and the deposit shows on the quote's Deposit panel as Collected once Stripe confirms it.

Record a deposit you received

For a check, cash or a card taken another way:

Open the approved quote

The Deposit panel shows what was Requested, Collected and still To collect.

Click Record deposit

Enter the Amount, the Method (Cash, Check, Card, Bank transfer or Other), the Date received and a Reference such as the check number.

Record it

Click the record button, which shows the amount (for example Record $150.00). Deposits can add up to the approved total, never more.

Recording a deposit doesn't charge the customer; it records money you received. Owners, admins and staff can record deposits.

When the quote is invoiced

When you turn the quote into an invoice, every deposit moves onto the new invoice and counts as paid there, so the invoice shows only the balance left. After that, record payments on the invoice.

A paid deposit can also open the payment gate on the order, so production can start. See Orders & production.
