Set up texting
Get your SKUFlow texting number and register it with US carriers so your texts reach customers.
To text customers you need two things: a texting number, and an approved carrier registration (A2P 10DLC). US carriers block business texts until the registration is approved. Owners and admins set this up in Settings → Messaging.
Step 1: your texting number
With SKUFlow texting (recommended), SKUFlow gives you a local number. There are no accounts or keys to set up, and your texting number is included on every plan.
SKUFlow picks a number near you once your business address is set (in Settings → General). To choose one yourself, in the Text messages (SMS) panel:
- Text from one of your numbers: pick a number you already have on SKUFlow, then Text from this number.
- Buy a local number: search by area code, then click Buy next to a number.

Answer the first question
Under Step 2: register with US carriers, answer Does your business have an EIN?
- Yes, it has an EIN: register the business with its IRS tax ID. Best for LLCs and corporations.
- No EIN: register as a sole proprietor with your own name and mobile.
Check the details
Most of the form is filled in for you. Check the highlighted items. The legal name must match your IRS EIN letter exactly, including LLC or Inc.
Before you submit lists everything carriers check: your website, privacy policy, terms and request form. Fix anything marked in red.
Submit
Click Submit registration and confirm.
Your business details go to Twilio and the US carriers. Registration fees are billed with your SKUFlow subscription at Twilio's cost + 20%.
Carriers review your brand (your business), then your campaign (how you text customers). It usually takes a few days, and the status updates by itself. A sole proprietor gets a text from Twilio after approval: reply YES within 24 hours to finish.
If the registration fails, the reasons are shown and the fields to fix are highlighted. Correct them and click Submit again.
A sole proprietor registration allows one texting number and a lower daily volume, plenty for order texts. Get an EIN later to register as a business without these limits.
Replace your texting number
Under Replace my texting number, choose another local number. SKUFlow buys it and moves your texts to it.
Use your own Twilio account
Under How you text, choose Use my own provider to connect your own Twilio account. Calls in the phone system then run on that account too.
