Orders & production

What an order waits for

The three checks before production: art approved, payment in and goods here. How they open and how to waive one.

An order doesn't go to the press until it's ready. The Before production panel at the top of every order shows three checks. Each one ticks itself off when its condition is met, and the order moves on by itself.

While a check is open, the order's status says what it's waiting for: Awaiting art, Awaiting payment or Awaiting goods. When all three are done it becomes Ready for production, and its jobs move from Waiting on the order to Queued on the production board.

Art approved

Done when the customer has approved the proofs on the quote (approving the quote approves its proofs), or when no proof was needed.

If the customer approved by phone or email, click Mark approved to tick it off yourself.

Payment

What has to be paid first depends on the order's Before production setting, in the Details panel:

SettingWhen the check is done
nothing firstRight away.
deposit firstOnce the Deposit required is paid. Left empty, any payment counts.
paid in full firstOnce nothing is left to pay on the invoice.

Orders from a quote with a deposit start on deposit first; orders from an invoice start on paid in full first. The check updates the moment a payment is recorded or paid online. To skip it for a trusted customer, click Waive.

Goods here

Done when every line's blanks are here. Each line on the order has a Goods status: To buy, Ordered, Received, From stock or Not needed.

  • Click From stock in the panel if you already have every blank on the shelf.
  • Click Buy to make purchase orders for what's still needed. See Buy blanks for an order.
  • To mark some lines only, tick them in the Lines panel and choose a status.

When a purchase order for the order is received, its lines become Received and the check updates.

Start before every check is done

If you need to start anyway (a rush job, a customer you trust), open the More menu on the order and choose Start production anyway. The checks still open are waived for this order.

The customer sees a simpler version of these steps in their customer portal: waiting for art approval, waiting for payment, in production, and so on.
