Group people under their company
Put the people of one company under one company customer, with everything they bought.
When people were added one by one (an import from DecoNetwork makes a customer per person, such as "Amy Cintron (AGDATA)"), you can group them under their company: one company customer, with each person as one of its contacts and all their orders, invoices, payments, stores and designs on the company.
Group several people at once
- Go to Customers and click Group by company.
- SKUFlow lists the companies it found and the people who seem to belong to them, with why: the company on their record, the company in brackets after their name, a store linked to them or that they buy from, or a shared company email address (never Gmail and the like). Nothing has changed yet.
- For each company, tick the people to move, and choose New company (check the name) or an Existing company customer.
- Click What moves? to see how many invoices, payments, stores, designs and other records move, and anything that can't stay exactly as it is.
- Click Apply, or tick several companies and click Apply at the top to do them one after the other.
Move one person under a company
- Open the person.
- In More, click Move under a company….
- Choose a new or an existing company, check what moves, and click Move under the company.
What happens
- Each person becomes a contact of the company (role Buyer), with their phones and emails. If the company already has a contact with the same email, the two are joined.
- Their invoices, payments, quotes, requests, orders, stores, designs, artwork, customer products, addresses, messages, notes and files move to the company. Balances and store prices stay the same. Each invoice remembers who ordered it.
- Custom fields: the company's own values are kept; a person's value fills a field the company doesn't have.
- Consent is never widened: if a person didn't want texts, emails or marketing, their own addresses stay opted out.
- The person's portal link stops working, and grouped buyers can't sign in to the company's portal: they would see the whole company's invoices. To give one of them access, remove the Buyer role from their contact.
- Invoice emails and reminders go to the person who ordered the invoice, not to the company's main contact.
- Saved cards don't carry over: a card stays with the person at Stripe, and the company saves its own.
- The person's running automations stop.
- If you use QuickBooks or Xero and a person's invoices or payments were already synced, they can't be grouped: merge them in QuickBooks or Xero first.
- The people are archived and kept for history. Their page says which company they were grouped under, and the company's page lists People grouped here.
Grouping can't be undone in one click. Use What moves? first. Running the same grouping twice does nothing the second time.
Re-importing from DecoNetwork after grouping updates the company: it doesn't bring the people back as customers of their own. New imports group people by company for you (see What gets imported).
Owners and admins can group customers.
