Tags and lead sources
Label customers with tags to find them fast, and record where each customer heard about you.
Tags and lead sources help you sort your customer list. Tags are free labels you make up as you go ("VIP", "School", "Net 30"). Lead sources are a fixed list you set up once, so you can see which channels bring in orders.
Tag a customer
- Open the customer and click Edit.
- Under Lead source and tags, type a tag and press Enter. Add as many as you like.
- Click Save changes.
To remove a tag, click its remove button. Addresses have their own Tags too, such as "Loading dock".
Find customers by tag
On the Customers list, type a tag in the Tag filter, or click a tag on any customer to show every customer with it. Click Clear tag to see everyone again.

The list also filters by Status, Customer type and Lead source, and searches names, phones, emails and addresses.
Set up your lead sources
Owners and admins choose which lead sources your team can pick.
Open lead sources
Open Settings → Lead sources.
Add one
Type a name in New lead source (for example "Instagram" or "Trade show") and click Add.
Rename or hide
Rename a lead source from its row. Switch it off to stop offering it on forms while keeping it on the customers who already have it.
Deleting a lead source never deletes customers: they stay as they are, without a lead source.
Record a customer's lead source
On the customer form, under Lead source and tags, choose a Lead source. A customer made from a request that came in through a connected Google or Meta ad gets that platform as their lead source (Marketing). See Reports to compare channels.
