Addresses and ship-to locations

Add the places a customer's orders ship to, with delivery instructions, and keep each address's history.

Besides the billing address, a customer can have any number of ship-to addresses: a head office, a warehouse, each school in a district, an event venue. Quotes, invoices and orders can name the address they ship to, and the address's tax rules decide the sales tax.

Every address keeps its own notes, files and history. You'll find all of them under Customers → Addresses in the menu, and each customer's under Addresses on their page.

Add a ship-to address

Open the customer

Open the customer and go to Addresses.

Click Add address

Enter the street address, and optionally a Name (optional) such as "Warehouse B".

Add delivery details

Fill in Delivery instructions (for example "Deliver to the loading dock at the back") and the receiving contact if it isn't the customer: Contact name, Contact phone and Contact email.

Save

Click Create address.

While making a quote or invoice, click New address in the ship-to picker to add one for the chosen customer without leaving the page.

An address belongs to your business, not to one customer, so several customers can share it (a school and its booster club, for example).

  1. On the customer's page, go to Addresses and click Link existing.
  2. Search by address, name or current customer and choose it.
  3. Choose Their role and the From date, then click Link address.

Hand an address over to another customer

When a location changes hands, open the address and click Hand over. Everyone linked to it stops being linked on the date you choose, and the new customer takes over from that date. Notes, files and history stay with the address.

To end one customer's link without a new one, click End next to them and choose the Last day. Past links stay visible as history.

Tax on an address

By default, your sales tax rules for the address decide the rate. To force a rate for one address, enter Tax rate override (%) on the address.
