Payment terms, tax and credit limits

Set when a customer's invoices are due, mark them tax exempt, give them a credit limit and choose how you may contact them.

Each customer can have their own billing rules. Set them once and every new quote and invoice follows them: net terms for the school district, tax exemption for the nonprofit, a credit limit for the account that pays slowly.

Open the customer, click Edit, and open More options (on a new customer, More options is at the bottom of the form). The customer's page shows the result under Billing and in the chips at the top: Balance, Lifetime value, Credit limit, Terms and Tax.

Payment terms

Under Payment terms, choose Due on receipt, Net 7, Net 15, Net 30, Net 45, Net 60 or Custom (then enter Days until due). Each new invoice's due date follows the terms unless you type a different date on the invoice.

Tax exemption

Turn on Tax exempt and enter the Tax exemption ID from their certificate. Their quotes and invoices carry no tax, and the forms say so.

Credit limit

Enter a Credit limit, or leave it empty for no limit. When the customer's open balance goes over it, the customer shows Over credit limit and quotes and invoices for them show a warning. You can still create them.

Do not sell to

Turn on Do not sell to and add a Reason for a customer you don't want to take new work from. A warning shows whenever a request, quote or invoice is made for them. Billing messages about what they already owe still go out.

Communication preferences

Under Communication preferences, choose what you may send them:

  • Email about orders and invoices
  • Text messages about orders
  • Marketing emails and offers

SKUFlow follows these for every message, together with the consent on each phone number.

Balance and lifetime value

These are worked out for you, never typed in:

  • Balance: what's still due on sent and overdue invoices, less deposits not yet applied to an invoice. A negative balance shows as In credit.
  • Lifetime value: every payment collected from the customer, less refunds. Tips aren't counted.
