Tax on quotes, invoices and stores
How SKUFlow picks the sales tax rate for each quote, invoice and store order, and how to update it.
Every quote, invoice and store order is taxed for its Ship-to address. The Tax panel on the quote or invoice shows the rate and where it came from (From: your tax rules, the default rate, and so on), with the clothing and shipping rates when they differ.

How the rate is chosen
SKUFlow uses the first of these that applies:
- Tax-exempt customer: no tax.
- Typed rate: a rate you typed on the quote or invoice.
- The address's own rate: a rate override saved on the ship-to address.
- Your tax rules for the ship-to address.
- Business unit default: the default rate of the quote's or invoice's business unit.
- Default rate: your business's default.
- No rate applies: no tax.
Each line is taxed at its class's rate: clothing at the clothing rate, shipping at the shipping rate, and items marked not taxable at none. The tax is worked out once over all the lines, so it isn't off by a cent from rounding each line.
Quotes
A quote is taxed when you create it, and again when you change its customer or ship-to address. If your rules changed since, click Update tax on the quote to apply the current rules. The button shows while the quote can still be changed, before the customer approves or declines.
Invoices
Pick the invoice's Ship-to address from the customer's addresses.
- An invoice made from an approved quote keeps the tax the customer agreed to, even if a rule changed since.
- A draft invoice with no payments is taxed again when its address changes, and you can click Update tax.
- Issued, paid and imported invoices keep their tax.
Online stores
In the store's settings, under Delivery and tax, turn on Tax shipped orders by your tax rules for the address (Settings → Taxes). Shipped orders are then taxed for the shopper's shipping address, and the store's Sales tax (%) is used for pickup and bulk orders and for addresses your rules don't cover. The shopper sees the real total for their address at checkout, and the order's invoice carries the same tax.
See Online stores.
Changing a rule never changes a document that's already taxed. Use Update tax on a quote or draft invoice to apply it.
